Has worked a variety of jobs before, including a few months as a bartender and a few as a white collar job intern. Consequently has a shitton of unrelated certifications.
Used to be actively suicidal, but is much more well adjusted and no longer on meds by the time the fics start.

His childhood friend. The first person he came out to, and his first kiss. They grew apart for a few months during high school due to hormones and a difference in opinion in plans for the future, but made up (and made out) right before graduation. Can't imagine life without him. His parents love Mal a lot, too, and treat him like their own kid.
